A SPECIAL THANK YOU
Born and raised in Joliet and Will County, I highly value my community and it’s institutions. I have been very fortunate in my life and career and I owe my success to a quality education. That’s why I decided to run for JJC School Board. I have several things that I would like ot address, mainly, property taxes, lower tuition, and increasing enrollment. I look forward to your support.
I was born and raised in Joliet Illinois. I grew up on the east side of Joliet in the south end neighborhood. I attended Providence Catholic High school. After high school I went off to college at Oregon State University.
High school was a phenomenal time in my life. Basketball has always been a passion of mine and with great mentoring and support I was able to thrive on the court as well as in the classroom. I also participated in lots of local community organization like the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and many student organizations. My high school years culminated in a scholarship to Oregon State University.
I spent the early 80’s in college. At Oregon State I excelled in the classroom and procured a Bachelors of Science in Political Science while also accruing a Certified Legal Assistant Certificate from the University of San Diego. My college career also including a basketball career in which I was apart of a phenomenal team. That success on the court led to a pro career in which i played pro basketball in Australia.
I began my professional Career as residential counselor where I was responsible for the development of social and employment skills of 80 young adults between the ages of 16 and 22. I then moved on to be a project manager of the Joliet Housing Authority where was charged with the daily management of over 160 units.
My love for community service and the public sector continued as I took a role with the Career Systems Development Corporation (CSD) (San Jose Job Corps.) where I managed direct reports of 18 to 24 employees and dealt with site safety in compliance with California OSHA guidelines.
After years working in the public sector and non profit sector, I started my own business. I am now the proud owner of Williams Paralegal Services and also a real estate holding company. I am very active in the Joliet business community as a member of the Joliet Chamber of Commerce and I currently serve as the Secretary of the African American Business Association of Joliet.
